Employment generation in developing nation: Problems and policies

Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to provoke some thought on the employment generation problem in developing nations. To achieve this objective data for this paper was derived from secondary sources: previous researches and analyses of scholars; government documents; newspaper/magazines as well as journal articles that are related to the subject. Given the trends and variations in the employment scenario, the author notes the poor quality of employment in majority of India, especially in the informal economy, and analyses the evolving strategy for poverty alleviation through employment generation. The article highlights the various types of unemployment prevailing in the country, the government schemes to generate employment to the people and also provides some suggestions to overcome this situation in a more productive way.
